For every space-lover, Big Falcon Rocket (BFR) project is not an anonymous thing, and it got instant attention of people from all over the globe, when the CEO of SpaceX, Elon Musk, provided an update on BFR’s design and potential features. It will play a crucial part in space traveling for sure.
Elon Musk uncovered the very first detail of the Big Falcon Rocket’s design back then in 2016 international Astronautical Congress. BFR is a combination of a massive cargo ship, which isBig Falcon Spaceship (BFS) and a giant rocket booster. According to Musk, BFS can hold up to one hundred passengers with ease. The ultimate goal of SpaceX is to send humans to the Moon and Mars.
As per Elon Musk, the Big Falcon Rocket will possess many features, and the most appealing one is it could go all over the Solar System. It will be not only power by 31 main Raptor engines, but it will also be 387 feet long. BFR will work as an interplanetary transport system because it will take humans to all over the Solar System.
According to SpaceX’s CEO, they will first do short hops of the Big Falcon Spaceship in late2019, and it will be similar to the grasshopper flights that the company did in 2012. It will help in preparing the BFR for sure.
The Scope of BFR is quite high as SpaceX believes the vehicle could make its first flight to the Planet in 2022, but it will be open for humans in 2024. The Space Company is working hard to achieve their goals, but still, they need funding for the project. Musk is hopeful that private enterprises and owners will come forward and provide a fund to make BFR successful. Though the company has set their targeted years, in which SpaceX is planning to send its first rocket, still Musk is not sure whether they will make it by 2022 or not. Lots of updates regarding BFR and BFS are in circulation, but what will happen in upcoming years? Nobody knows.
